Downstairs in the clasroom, the SCRIBS observing system: The illuminated mirror shown passes light through 2 pick-off mirrors which direct >600nm light into the DayStar H alpha filter and camera, while <400nm light is directed through the DayStar Ca II K line filter and camera. The remaining continuum light is reflected to prime focus locations in the room for students to study sunspots. The video monitoring system in the background re-combines up to 4 images and streams out 1 single video signal for re-broadcast.

When high clouds are present, the Halpha shows a good image before the Ca II image does due to the shorter blue wavelengths tendency to scatter in the atmosphere.
