Comet Hyakutake 1996 (B)
45mph winds calmed somewhat for this shot that shows the separation between the dust and plasma tails. One very strong gust "bounced" the 500 mm, f4 piggyback mounted lens during this 10 minute exposure. Photographed by Vic Winter on Fuji Super G 400 ASA Color Negative film. Exposure began at 9:20 p.m. C.D.T. on April 19th, 1996. Clear skies. Location: Outside Farpoint Observatory, During the 1996 Astronomy Workshop in Northeast Kansas.
