On August 11, 1999 the path of Totality marched across England, France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, and Yugoslovia, where the point of Maximum Eclipse occurred in Romania. It continued through Bulgaria, crossed the Black Sea and hit Turkey, Iraq, Iran, Pakistan and India.

First contact at our observing site occurred at 10:13 UT (1:13 local time). Totality began at 11:36 UT (2:36 local time) and ended at 11:38 UT (2:38 local time).

Our observations included an expecially large number of prominences...
Many visible by naked eye.
