Eclipse Expedition to Africa Nov 29-Dec 07

December 4, 2002 - 8:14 am Local Time
Longitude: E 30º 27.5' - Latitude: S 22º 27'

Sunday, December 4, 2002:

Clearing Skies at dawn gave us great expectations.  By 6:30, clouds began moving in. The cold front had pushed in 6 hours early and brought 2 layers of upper-level clouds and lower-level fog.

Skies filled from south to north within 1/2 hour no less than an approximate 100km in each direction.

Normal morning heat convection began to clear clouds, but was stopped after 1st contact, and clouds re-formed.

Just ONE dense cloud passed the eclipse at 2nd contact and stayed until 3rd.
