ICSTARS Astronomy's Hydrogen Alpha Solar Observations

Photographed with Kodak Tech-Pan 2415 black & white film and a prototype prominence hydrogen alpha filter. The afternoon of March 13th, 2001 was clear and fairly warm (61 degrees F). These photos were taken between 20:00 UT and 21:00 UT.

Today's outstanding feature is the long Quiet Region Filament that has dominated the surface for more than a week. The overall length was easily longer than a solar radii.
