October 24, 2007 - Comet 17P/Holmes is in outburst today, showing an increase in brightness.

The comet, first discovered in November, 1892 has a history of these outbursts.

Today the comet increased in brightness by a factor of 500,000 times.

The comet can be seen naked-eye in the Northeast shortly after sunset in the constellation Perseus.
